Community guidelines

Last updated August 2026. What we ask of everyone in Her Space.

Her Space works because the women in it trust one another with things they would not say anywhere else. These guidelines exist to protect that, not to police it. If anything here is unclear, write to beyondtherolesinitiative@gmail.com.

What we ask of everyone

  1. Honesty. Say the true thing, at whatever size you can manage today. A partial truth offered honestly is worth more than a tidy answer.
  2. Confidentiality. What is said here stays here. Not the gist, not an anonymised version over lunch. It stays here.
  3. No judgment. Women arrive from very different lives and make very different choices. You do not have to agree to be kind.
  4. No unsolicited advice. Ask before you fix. Most of the time what is wanted is to be heard, and advice offered early ends the conversation.
  5. Respect for difference. Faith, marriage, money, work, children. There is no house position on any of it and nobody needs converting.
  6. Care for one another. Notice when someone goes quiet. Check on her. This is the part that turns a group into a community.

What this looks like in an online session

  • Sessions are not recorded or screenshotted without everyone's agreement.
  • What is shared by name stays with the person who shared it — do not repeat it elsewhere, even anonymised.
  • No selling, recruiting or promoting to the group.
  • Facilitators are there to hold the space, not to diagnose, counsel or fix.

Where this is not enough

Her Space is peer community, not therapy and not emergency care. Where a conversation touches on something that needs professional support, a facilitator will say so plainly and help point towards it. See our disclaimer and, where a conversation involves a young person, our safeguarding statement.

If a guideline is broken

We will normally speak to the person first. Where confidentiality, safety or a young person's welfare is at stake, we do not have to wait before acting, and someone may be removed from the community without that conversation happening first.
