Safeguarding statement

Beyond the Roles Initiative works primarily with adult women. Beyond Tomorrow, our girl-child development arm, will involve girls under eighteen once it launches — and this statement sets out how we mean to protect them.

Our commitment

Every child and young person who takes part in our work has the right to be safe, respected and protected from harm. We take that responsibility seriously, and we would rather delay a programme than run it without the safeguards in place.

What has to exist before Beyond Tomorrow launches

• A written safeguarding policy, reviewed by someone qualified to write one.
• Background checks and safeguarding training for anyone working directly with girls.
• A clear, simple way for a girl, a parent or a guardian to raise a concern — and a named person responsible for responding to it.
• Written parental or guardian consent before any girl takes part.
• Partnership with schools or organisations who already do this work properly, rather than attempting it alone from a standing start.

Our existing community

Her Space, Mother, Too, Rooted, and our other current programmes are intended for adult women. Where we become aware that someone under eighteen has joined, we will speak to them and, wherever possible, their parent or guardian, about age-appropriate alternatives.

Reporting a concern

If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a child or young person in connection with our work, please write to beyondtherolesinitiative@gmail.com as soon as you can. If a child is in immediate danger, please contact the police or emergency services first — do not wait for us.

Changes

This statement will be reviewed and formalised properly before Beyond Tomorrow accepts its first participant, with input from a qualified safeguarding advisor.
